The Outreach Committee of Jenkins Cumberland Presbyterian Church will have its annual Carnival For Kids Saturday, October 1st. Proceeds fund outreach programs that assist families with food, clothing, medical, housing, school supplies, holiday help and more. The committee works with local school counselors and others to provide anonymous assistance. Sponsorships of games and other carnival areas start at $100 and allow merchants to advertise their goods and services at the popular annual event. Sponsorships are filled on a first come, first served basis.

According to carnival organizer Sonya Haywood the pony rides, D.’s Delight BBQ, and the indoor silent auction are very popular, “These are usually the first sponsorships filled, but all of our areas are busy throughout the day.” New activities are added each year to keep things fun for attendees. “We like to switch things up from year to year to make sure our supporters have new things to do and enjoy a great time with their families,” says Haywood. “We appreciate them so much. Their generosity allows us to help more children and adults in need.”

The committee is also looking forward to working with new pastor, Jonathan Watson. “It will be a great way for him to meet many families from the community and surrounding areas,” Haywood says. “We promise not to put him in the dunking booth–at least not the first year!”
